Consultations

Seeking support may feel daunting.  We aim to be empathetic and support you with your Perimenopause and Menopause journey.

We can arrange a video appointment in the comfort of your own home or a face-to-face appointment by arrangement as per your preferred requirement.

Once you make an appointment, we will send you a medical questionnaire along with a symptoms checker prior to your appointment, to ensure we have all the relevant information to understand your health and symptoms so we can support you.

New Patient Initial Consultation

We aim to welcome you to LlÅ·n Menopause clinic in a relaxed and friendly non-judgmental environment. We allow up to an hour so you feel listened to. This is totally confidential and your records will be sorted via a secure database.

We take a detailed history, look at your Menopause Symptoms Questionnaire, Symptom Checker, and discuss this with you. We will look at all aspects of your current and previous health and look at any medication you may be taking. We take an individualised holistic approach to help you.

We will provide you with evidenced based information, and work within the NICE and British Menopause Society guidance.  Based on your symptoms a treatment plan will be recommended should you wish to try HRT or think about it. Body identical HRT will be discussed and Testosterone therapy if required. If you do not wish to try HRT, we can discuss alternate treatment options and lifestyle approaches to help your menopause journey.

Prescription:

If you would like to start hormone replacement therapy (HRT), we can arrange a private prescription for you on the day of your consultation. This will be sent electronically to an online pharmacy, and once you’ve made payment directly to them, your medication will be delivered straight to your home. For ongoing treatment, your GP may be able to continue prescribing your HRT for you, as outlined in your clinic letter. If you prefer, you are also welcome to continue with a private prescription through the clinic.

Treatment Plan:

Your clinic letter will be sent out to you on the same day . This will include your detailed step by step personalised individualised treatment plan and further supporting literature. We would advise that a copy of your clinic letter is shared with your GP (with your consent) so that they are aware of any new medication you may be taking.  â€‹â€‹

Follow up consultation at 3 months:

This is a good time to discuss how you’re feeling and address any symptoms in relation to your menopause journey. Your treatment plan can then be adjusted if needed along with ensuring a holistic approach to your perimenopause or menopause. Once again, we would advise that a copy of your clinic letter is shared with your GP (with your consent) so that they are aware of any adjustments made to your medication.

Follow up consultation 6-12 months:

Once established on your treatment plan it is advised that you have at least an annual follow up. Hormone levels can change during phases of your life and treatments may then need adjusting. This is a good time to discuss any changes to your general health. You are welcome to make a sooner appointment than planned as we are here to support you.

Testosterone Assessment:

This appointment is designed for women who are already well established on HRT but continue to experience low libido and would like to explore whether testosterone may be beneficial. Some women also report improvements in energy, mood, and concentration while taking testosterone, although further research is ongoing to strengthen the findings.  Before the consultation, a base line blood test measuring testosterone and SHBG is required. Please note that only serum blood tests are accepted—not finger-prick samples. We can arrange a private blood test for you if needed.  With your consent, we recommend sharing your clinic letter with your GP to keep them updated about any new treatments. If testosterone treatment is started, a follow-up blood test (testosterone and SHBG) will be required after 2–3 months to check your levels and ensure they stay within the normal female range.

Telephone check-in Call

This is a 10 minute appointment to answer questions and queries if needed between your formal consultation. This is for existing patients at LlÅ·n Menopause who have already been seen as a new patient and follow up within 12 months.  If you need longer we can offer you an earlier follow up appointment date.
